Susan Cass Creaser Memorial Scholarship for Theatre Arts
and take center stage this summer.
We are thrilled to once again offer the Susan Cass Creaser Memorial Scholarship at the Carolina Children's Theatre, a tribute to a remarkable individual whose passion for the arts and unwavering belief in the transformative power of theatre lives on through this scholarship. This award will grant a full scholarship to one deserving child, offering them the opportunity to immerse themselves in the magic of theatre, free of charge, for our Summer Drama Camp Production of "Newsies, Jr." beginning July 6th.
This scholarship is open to all individuals aged 8-18 who dream of taking the stage,
whether as a shining star in the spotlight or as a creative genius behind the scenes.
We believe in nurturing talent in all areas of theatre, from Mainstage performances to Artistic and Crew contributions.
This scholarship is not just a ticket to a workshop; it's an invitation to join a community that celebrates
creativity, teamwork, and personal growth.
This scholarship honors Susan's legacy by opening doors for young individuals to
explore their talents, express themselves, and experience the joy and camaraderie
that comes from being part of a theatrical production.

Eligibility Requirements
Must be between the ages of 8 and 18
Must have a passion for the dramatic arts - no experience is necessary!
Must submit a completed application package, including:
Application form and Personal essay - written or video submission accepted
How to Apply

2. Select Your Essay Question: Choose one of the following five questions for your essay:
- Describe a moment in theatre that changed you.
- How do you see yourself contributing to the world of theatre in the future,
and how could this scholarship help you achieve that vision?
- What role does theatre play in community building,and how do you hope to be a part
of that through your participation in the Carolina Children's Theatre?
- If you could create any theatre production, what would it be about and why?
- Tell us about a challenge you've faced and how theatre has helped you overcome it
or given you a different perspective on it.
3. Prepare Your Essay: Your essay should be between 200 and 250 words, typed in a standard,
readable font (such as Times New Roman, 12-point), and double spaced OR
you can submit a video essay no longer than 2 minutes.
4. Save Your Document: Save your essay as a PDF file. Name the file in the following format: [LastName]_[FirstName]_SCCMScholarship.pdf (e.g., Doe_Jane_SCCMScholarship.pdf).
If you are submitting a video essay, please save the same way as above in a format such as Vimeo or Dropbox.
5. Send Your Submission: Attach your essay PDF or video to your application form.

7. Deadline: Make sure to submit by February 15, 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.
8. Confirmation: Upon receiving your application and essay, we will send you a confirmation email.
If you do not receive a confirmation within 48 hours,
